Toys provide endless opportunities for learning and development. However, used toys can also harbour germs, bacteria, and potential allergens if not cleaned properly. Proper sanitization is crucial, but many parents don't have the time or resources to thoroughly clean each toy.
As a toy library, maintaining exemplary hygiene standards for our inventory is a top priority. We aim to eliminate any worries parents might have about safety and allow kids to reap the developmental benefits of playing.
We have developed a meticulous, multi-step sanitization process for toys returning from rental:
Our toy librarians first conduct a visual inspection of the toy, checking for any obvious damage or areas needing repair. We want each toy to be in top shape before being rented again.
The toy then goes into a professional-grade UV chamber for disinfection. UV light effectively kills up to 99.9% of germs, bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. This eliminates any microbes without the use of toxic chemicals.
Next, the toys are hand-washed and scrubbed with child-safe antimicrobial soap and hot water. Our librarians ensure that every surface and crevice is cleaned.
All toys are left to completely air dry before being packaged up again. This prevents any moisture from remaining that might allow mould or bacteria to grow.
The final step is a quality check and re-packaging. Toys are inspected once more before being placed in our sanitized toy bags, ready for their next rental.
Our goal is to be as thorough as possible in cleaning each toy while using non-toxic methods safe for children. No toy is rented again until it completes this protocol.
